Community Garden Day

Expired

Description

Join Us for Community Garden Day – Starting March 1st!

Every first Saturday of the month, we come together to make our garden bloom with care, love, and hard work! Whether you're an experienced gardener or just starting out, we invite you to roll up your sleeves, connect with nature, and meet your neighbors as we tackle a variety of garden tasks.

Our Community Garden Day is all about teamwork, sharing knowledge, and working together to maintain our beautiful space. The tasks vary from month to month but will always involve larger areas of the garden that need regular care and attention.

Here's what we'll be up to:

Tasks You’ll Help With:

  • Weeding: Keeping the garden beds free from unwanted plants so our veggies and flowers thrive.
  • Mulching: Spreading organic mulch around plants to help retain moisture and prevent weeds.
  • Pruning & Trimming: Cutting back overgrown plants to encourage healthy growth and tidiness.
  • Watering: Ensuring our garden stays hydrated, especially as the weather warms up.
  • Soil Care: Tending to the soil with compost and natural fertilizers to keep it rich and healthy.
  • Planting: Adding new crops, herbs, and flowers to our garden beds.
  • Pathway & Yard Maintenance: Fixing up garden paths, adding new gravel, and clearing debris.

What to Expect from the Environment:

  • A welcoming, positive, and friendly vibe where everyone is treated with kindness and respect.
  • An opportunity to be outdoors, surrounded by nature, and connect with others in the community.
  • An all-ages event where families, kids, and solo volunteers alike come together to share the joy of gardening.

Physical Requirements & Age Suggestions:

  • This is a hands-on event! We’ll be working on our feet for a few hours, so please wear comfortable clothes and sturdy shoes suitable for gardening.
  • The tasks can involve some light to moderate physical activity like bending, lifting, or digging. For some of the more demanding tasks (such as hauling mulch), we’ll have ways to rotate duties or work together as a group.
  • Ages: We encourage volunteers of all ages! Kids (under 16) must be accompanied by an adult, and older adults are more than welcome to come and participate at their own pace.

Conduct Guidelines:

  • Be respectful: We're all here to work together to create something beautiful, so be mindful of each other’s space, needs, and abilities.
  • Safety first: Follow instructions from the lead gardeners, use tools properly, and be cautious when handling plants or equipment.
  • Bring your enthusiasm! The more positivity and energy we have, the more fun and productive our garden days will be.

Come for the fresh air, stay for the community spirit! We can’t wait to see you on the first Saturday of every month starting March 1st! Let's grow together!
