Who We Are

Honor 9/11 Day Through a Lifetime of Service

It’s been more than two decades since 9/11. Honor and commemorate the sacrifices made that day by remembering the heroes, armed forces, first responders, and countless others’ acts of service to defend our nation’s freedom.

On the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, Americans of all ages and backgrounds are again invited to join and lead community service projects to honor the lives and service of those we lost on September 11. Cross divides, differences, and ideologies to serve with neighbors and strangers alike to build important bridges in your communities.

What We Do

The 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance committee, led by Stronger Together Oxford, organizes a series of community-forward and educational events designed to foster participation and reflection.

The 9/11 DOS committee includes the Oxford Fire Department, Oxford Police Department, Lafayette County Fire Department, AmeriCorps, and is sponsored by Winchester, Taylor Grocery and the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council.

The events feature a range of activities such as an honorary luncheon and parade for first responders and veterans, an age-appropriate community day, a "Touch-a-Truck" event showcasing emergency vehicles and enrichment activities, a blood donation competition, a supply drive for veterans, flag distributionution for the annual ROTC run and a Memorial Stair Climb.
