Sleep in Heavenly Peace (Bed Building)

Calendar Happens On Jul 18, 2026
Time 8AM-11AM

Description

Bed Build on July 18th: So far, the Army of Normal Folks (YOU) have built and delivered 35 beds for kids in Lafayette County without beds. But, they also still have 41 bed requests that haven’t been met yet, which means they need you at their next bed build on Saturday July 18th!

It’s from 8-11 am at the Old Armory Pavilion. No experience required. Bring your kids. And make new friends doing some good.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace’s mission statement is "No kid sleeps on the floor in our town" and our 400 local chapters have built & delivered 350,000 beds for kids without them!

Around 3-4% of kids in America are bedless, which means there could be 282 bedless kids in Lafayette County (let alone our broader area that we'd like to eventually serve).

Given that, we’re setting our Year 1 goal at building and delivering 282 kids, with a budget of $120k. By end of day tomorrow, we will have delivered 33 beds, which is fantastic. But given that we currently have 43 unmet requests, there's much more work to do.

In addition to serving kids without beds, this endeavor also serves the soul of the community, providing a powerful volunteer opportunity to build & deliver beds and grow in our service journey.

On July 18th from 8-11 am, we're having a bed build at the Old Armory Pavilion that's presented by ANF Oxford and Yoknapatawpha Arts Council!

We're looking for 40 volunteers, you can signup on this event page, kids are welcome (there's roles they can do), and no construction experience is required.

If you’d like to sponsor one or more beds at $424 each or $35/mo, here's the donation link. An Army of Normal Folks doing this adds up fast!

If you'd like to help purchase bedding items for $16-41, here's our Amazon registry.
