Create Thank-You Seed Kits

Description

Help Us Create Community Thank-You Seed Kits!

We need your help to create Thank-You Seed Kits for The Pantry of Oxford/Lafayette Clients. These kits will be distributed to local clients, giving them the tools to grow their own beans at home. Each kit will include a variety of bean seeds (green, yellow, and purple), along with easy-to-follow instructions on how to plant and care for the beans, plus recipes to inspire creative and healthy meals. We’re aiming to assemble around 800 seed kits and would love to have you join us in this important project!

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Assembling Seed Kits: Volunteers will help fill bags with a mix of green, yellow, and purple bean seeds.

  • Packaging Seeds: Each kit will include a set of growing instructions and recipes that volunteers will also help organize and place in the seed bags.

  • Pot Collection & Sorting: Clean, empty 3- to 4-inch diameter pots will be included in the kits. We are asking volunteers to assist in sorting and preparing the pots for distribution with the seed kits.

  • Final Assembly: Once all the materials are collected (seeds, pots, instructions, recipes), volunteers will assist in packing everything together into completed seed kits.

What We Need from You:

  • Clean Pots: (optional) We are looking for 3- to 4-inch diameter pots to include in each kit. If you have any extra pots (clean and in good condition), please bring them to help support this effort.

  • Teamwork: Help us organize the materials and ensure each kit is packaged properly, with the correct number of seeds, instructions, and recipes.

  • Attention to Detail: Help us ensure that every kit is well-prepared, neatly packed, and ready for distribution to the community.

Physical Requirements:

  • This is a hands-on volunteer opportunity that involves some light physical activity, such as sorting, packaging, and assembling kits.

  • Volunteers will be on their feet for parts of the session, but there will also be areas to sit and rest if needed.

  • No prior experience is necessary – just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to help!

Age & Experience:

  • This is a great opportunity for volunteers of all ages! Kids (under 16) must be accompanied by an adult.

  • No experience is required – we’ll provide instructions and all necessary materials.

How You Can Help: If you're interested in volunteering to help assemble the kits, please respond to this opportunity and choosing a shift!
