Oxford's Army of Normal Folks

Who We Are

Army of Normal Folks is our movement led by Ole Miss alum & Charity Bowl founder Bill Courtney (from the Oscar-winning film Undefeated) built on this simple idea: Our country’s problems won’t be solved by fancy people in suits in DC, but by normal folks just doing what we can.

The Army is on a mission to build the largest service club in America that helps reduce the barriers to service. This is critical when only 33% of Americans are contributing in their community at the level they want to.

We're launching six local service clubs across the country, including Oxford’s Army of Normal Folks!

What we love is that there’s zero requirements to join the club, so you can join as much or as little as you want and signing up here will keep you in the loop.

What We Do

The club will start by offering 3 low-friction service opportunities:

  1. Giving Circle: Everyone chips in what they can (starts at $10/month and up to $25k) and together we'll make larger transformational gifts than we could on our own. Everyone gets an equal vote on where to make the gifts.
    1. The philanthropy Stand Together is offering some awesome challenge grants to the giving circle, including $12k if we recruit 100 members at $10/mo+ and $25k if we recruit the most members out of the 6 clubs across the country. Here’s the donation link.
  2. Army Activations: Monthly, no-drama service days. Just show up, roll up your sleeves, and serve alongside neighbors. Our first one is on March 28th with the new local chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. Nationally, they’ve built 350k beds for kids without them!
  3. Service Concierge: There’s a ginormous number of nonprofits and normal folks don’t have time to research all of them. Our Service Concierge can help you explore 2-3 service opportunities that match your unique passions and abilities!
